Leo's diabetes hub is built around the three data streams diabetes care actually runs on: glucose, insulin, and carbs. CGM readings flow in through Apple Health — any CGM that writes there shows up here. A1C and ketones get their own surfaces. The correlation chart lets you see what happened two hours after that 60-gram dinner.

The condition

A spectrum of glycemic disorders with shared daily mechanics.

Diabetes is a group of conditions in which blood glucose stays higher than it should. Type 1 is an autoimmune destruction of the insulin-producing beta cells and requires lifelong exogenous insulin. Type 2 involves insulin resistance plus relative insulin deficiency and is the most common form globally. Gestational diabetes appears during pregnancy and usually resolves after delivery. LADA, MODY, and post-pancreatic forms add more nuance.

The daily mechanics are the same across types: glucose in, insulin available, carbs eaten, the result two hours later. The hub is built around those four streams.

The glucose surface

Readings, trends, and the metrics your endo actually looks at.

Glucose readings flow into Leo from Apple Health — which means any CGM that writes to HealthKit (Dexcom, Libre, Eversense and others) shows up automatically, and fingerstick meters that sync to Apple Health do too. Manual fingerstick logging is also one tap away.

The dashboard surfaces the metrics the ADA Standards of Care put at the top of every diabetes review:

% of readings between 70 and 180 mg/dL — the ADA primary glycemic outcome.
Time below range
Separated into below 70 (alert) and below 54 (critical) per ADA targets.
GMI
Glucose Management Indicator — the estimated A1C from your recent CGM data.
Coefficient of variation (CV)
Variability metric; ADA target is < 36%.
Out-of-range alerts
Local notifications for high / low / critical low when readings cross your thresholds.
A 24-hour and 7-day chart toggle shows your glucose curve with target bands at 70 and 180 mg/dL. Tap-to-inspect on any point reveals exact value and timestamp.
Insulin tracking

Basal versus bolus, twelve brands recognized by name.

Insulin logging is purpose-built — not jammed into the general medications surface. Bolus and basal doses are tracked separately so daily totals and trends mean what you'd expect them to. Choose from twelve insulin brands or enter a custom name:

Each dose captures units, time, and links to a meal if you log carbs in the same window. The 7-day insulin trend chart shows bolus and basal as stacked bars with daily averages, so total daily dose (TDD) and basal:bolus split are visible at a glance.

A1C & ketones

Quarterly numbers and sick-day signals, both surfaced.

A1C

Log A1C from any lab draw. The card shows color-coded value (under 5.7% green, 5.7–6.4% orange, over 6.5% red), trend chart across visits, and the estimated average glucose calculated using the standard formula (eAG = 28.7 × A1C − 46.7).

Target line at 7.0% is shown for reference, not as a personal goal.
Ketones

Blood (mmol/L) or urine (negative / small / moderate / large) ketone logging with color-coded severity. Important on sick days, with SGLT2 inhibitors, or any time glucose runs high. The card keeps recent values alongside the glucose timeline.

Ketone severity uses standard cutoffs. Leo describes the value — it does not treat it.
The correlation overlay

See what happened two hours after that meal.

Diabetes patterns hide between metrics. The correlation chart lets you overlay glucose, insulin, carbs, ketones, and A1C on one timeline. Tap a chip to toggle a metric on or off. Drag to inspect exact values. Each metric is scaled to fit the same axis, with a legend showing the actual ranges so you don't lose the units.

The chart also displays a short-horizon glucose trend forecast — produced by linear regression over your recent readings with explicit confidence bands. It's a math view, not a clinical prediction, and it's labeled that way every time it appears.

Labs pinned to the diabetes pack: A1C / glucose · ketone · lipid panel · kidney function · thyroid · CMP. Out-of-range values are flagged. Diabetes supplies (sensors, transmitters, insulin, infusion sets) can be tracked in the supply surface so you see when you're running low.

What it isn't

The list of things we'd like to ship, and haven't yet.

Diabetes has decades of standards-of-care, devices, and ecosystems built around it. Leo doesn't try to replace any of them. The list below is the active backlog — every item is on the feature-parity tracker, and this page gets updated as items ship.

Dexcom-direct OAuth connection (coming soon — in progress, awaiting Dexcom partner approval)

Not live yet. The iOS-side integration is built — OAuth, token storage, 5-minute polling, alerts — but the blocker is on Dexcom's side: they are not currently accepting new API partners. Today glucose comes through Apple Health, which covers Dexcom and any other CGM that writes to HealthKit (Libre, Eversense, etc.).

Insulin pump integration (Tandem, Omnipod, Medtronic) — coming soon

Not built yet. Insulin is manual basal/bolus logging only — there's no direct pump sync with Tandem, Omnipod, or Medtronic today.

Leo does not dose insulin, doesn't recommend insulin-to-carb ratios, and doesn't interpret your A1C. The hub describes what you've logged. Dose changes, target adjustments, and treatment intensification belong with your endocrinologist or diabetes care team.
