The condition

A heritable connective-tissue disorder — not a tidy diagnosis.

The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes are a group of inherited disorders of connective tissue. Thirteen subtypes are currently recognized in the 2017 International Classification, with hEDS (hypermobile) by far the most common. The shared thread is faulty collagen — affecting joints, skin, blood vessels, and the autonomic nervous system in patterns that look different from person to person.

Average time from first symptom to accurate diagnosis is over a decade. Comorbidities are the rule, not the exception: dysautonomia (POTS most commonly), mast cell activation, gastroparesis, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue all show up at higher rates than in the general population. The diagnostic and management work happens at appointments; the actual lived experience — the events, the flares, the which-joint-this-time — happens in the gaps.

Cycle context

If you track a menstrual cycle, the current phase is pulled in from the Cycle hub — many EDS flares cluster around it.

Labs that travel with EDS

Six panels pinned to your hub, ready for your next appointment.

The EDS condition pack pins six lab panels to the dashboard so trends are visible alongside your event log. You log them when you have them — usually right after a draw — and they sit on the hub with the rest of the picture. Out-of-range values are flagged. The pinned set:

CBC

Complete blood count — flags anemia, infection markers, platelet trends.

CMP

Comprehensive metabolic panel — liver, kidney, electrolytes.

Vitamin D

Routinely low in connective-tissue disorders; affects pain and fatigue.

Iron studies

Iron, ferritin, TIBC — chronic-fatigue overlap is common.

Inflammatory markers

ESR, CRP — useful baseline if comorbid inflammation is suspected.

B12 / Folate

Macrocytic-anemia screen, dysautonomia overlap, neurologic symptoms.

Why these are general panels and not EDS-specific genetics: there's no blood test for hEDS, the most common subtype. The pinned set is the everyday picture — what most EDS patients are asked to keep an eye on between visits.

Leo does not diagnose EDS, doesn't classify subtypes, and doesn't forecast subluxations. The hub describes what you've logged. Diagnostic decisions belong with a geneticist or EDS-experienced clinician.
